Artist Statement
I create work at the intersection of music, memory, and community. As a vocalist, educator, and producer, my art is rooted in the belief that creativity is both a lifeline and a form of public service. I grew up in a home shaped by chaos, resilience, and moments of unexpected beauty. Music became the place where I learned to breathe again — a place to transform pain into purpose, and purpose into connection. Every project I take on, whether a choir concert, a musical production, or a community arts initiative, carries that belief forward: the arts heal.
My artistic practice is grounded in storytelling. I gravitate toward work that honors lived experience — my own and that of the communities I serve. Whether I'm on stage, in the studio, or building programs for young people, my goal is the same: to create spaces where people feel seen, safe, and inspired to express themselves. My approach blends formal music training with mentorship, humor, and cultural responsiveness, shaped by years of working with diverse youth, LGBTQ+ communities, and West Valley families.
As a producer and arts advocate, I focus on expanding access. I design choir programs, theater experiences, and interdisciplinary classes that welcome students at every level of experience, removing barriers to participation through scholarships, community partnerships, and innovative program design. I believe that when people are given room to experiment, fail, laugh, and try again, they discover parts of themselves they didn’t know existed.
My work continues to evolve as I explore my own identity — as a gay Latino artist, a community leader, and someone who has lived many chapters and worn many crowns. I carry my past with honesty, humor, and gratitude, letting it inform my music without defining my future. Ultimately, I create because I know what the arts gave me. My commitment is to give that same sense of possibility, belonging, and liberation to others.
