Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve is a 47-acre archaeology and nature preserve in north Phoenix featuring more than 1,500 ancient petroglyphs carved into more than 500 basalt boulders.
The Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve is a 47-acre archaeological and nature preserve in north Phoenix, home to more than 1,500 petroglyphs carved into over 500 basalt boulders by Hohokam, Patayan, and Western Archaic traditions between 500 and 5,000 years ago. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the preserve protects the Hedgpeth Hills petroglyph site and provides meaningful public access to one of the region’s most significant archaeological and cultural landscapes. Our mission is to preserve and protect the site for future generations while honoring and sharing the cultural heritage through education, research, exhibitions, and conservation. Guided by our core values of Preservation, Connection, and Respect, we prioritize safeguarding the petroglyphs and the surrounding landscape, fostering connections between past and present, and honoring the many perspectives and interpretations that give this place meaning. Operated by Arizona State University’s School of Human Evolution and Social Change, the preserve and museum invite visitors to explore, learn, and engage with the deep cultural history of the Sonoran Desert in a spirit of stewardship and shared understanding.

Creative Arts and Production Academy (CAPA) is a faith-based nonprofit theater program serving homeschool students and the Southwest Valley community. CAPA provides opportunities for students and community members to participate in stage productions, develop acting and performance skills, and experience the joy of live theater. Through productions, classes, and workshops, CAPA inspires creativity, confidence, and a love for the performing arts.
Our mission is to provide the community with opportunities to experience art and culture in ways that are inspiring and engaging. We believe that God designed everyone to create. That belief is at the root of what we do.
Providing affordable art education and opportunities.
We are Catitude Arts, A 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in the West valley, offering affordable art classes for three age groups though our four Art Programs. Creative Aging: (+55) art classes to teach you new skills in a variety of mediums. Art Block: (+15) art classes to teach you new skills in a variety of mediums. Mural Mentoring: (+15) year round opportunities to learn the technical and business side of mural painting. Follow Your Art Jr.: (+13–19) summer art class.
Arts and Culture in Peoria The history of the City of Peoria’s Arts and Culture program goes back to the 1987 creation of the Peoria Arts Commission and the Percent for the Arts Program by Peoria City Council. Since that time funding for the public art program has come from a one-percent contribution from each of the City’s capital improvement projects. The Peoria Arts Grant program was created in 1998 to help promote the arts in the community. The grant program provides various funding to local arts organizations for programming in Peoria. The program is regularly modified to meet the needs of the community and is monitored to evaluate program impact. The program helps to support local arts organizations as well as attract programming from around the Phoenix region to Peoria. In Fiscal Year 2026, 42 Arts and Culture grants were awarded, totaling $300,000. In 2007, the city unveiled the new Peoria Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Peoria. The city and community have many diverse and ambitious goals for their cultural programs. In 2009, an Arts Master Plan was created that sought to align the goals into a specific set of recommendations, which provided overarching, holistic policy direction. In 2022, a new Arts & Culture Plan was approved by the Peoria City Council and provides direction of Peoria's Arts and Culture programming into the future. The plan’s vision defines that the arts in Peoria support a vibrant cultural community that is accessible, inclusive, and inspiring for all.

Library Services is innovative, interactive, inclusive, and the education hub of the community. Our Mission: To activate Peoria as a place where arts, culture, and library services are distinctly inclusive, educational, and responsive to the community.
The Del Webb Sun Cities Museum preserves and shares the history of Sun City and Sun City West, the nation’s first active adult retirement community, opened in 1960 by Del E. Webb. Located in one of the five original model homes, the museum offers exhibits, photographs, and stories that highlight the vision, people, and events that shaped the "Community That Changed a Nation!"
The mission of the Sun Cities Area Historical Society is to promote public awareness and appreciation of the history of Sun City and Sun City West. The Society collects, preserves, and displays materials and artifacts striving to inform present and future generations of the pioneering heritage of these unique active retirement communities.
The Desert Aires has presented annual concerts for thirty one consecutive years, and has performed hundreds of times for various groups, as well as donating performances for charitable organizations and the Sun Cities Recreation Centers functions. They have contributed substantial amounts to local charities. The chorus is currently singing under the direction of Cary Burns, with Bill Shaw as assistant director. (See more information under director tab.) The chorus is achieving new heights in performance levels. The Chorus hasn’t always competed with other barbershop choruses but has won the “Plateau A Award” several times through the years at the Far Western District Division 5 competition, with the most recent in 2023. In both 2023 and 2024, the Desert Aires earned the right to compete in the International competition for “Senior Choruses”. They opted not to go to New York in 2023 for that competition but will compete in San Antonio, TX in January 2025.
First Friday Surprise is more than an event, it’s a celebration of local creativity. Our mission is to provide a platform for artists and makers while creating a welcoming space for families and neighbors to gather.
