Artist Statement
I have always had a compulsion to record what I saw. It was a need to capture my feelings to keep as a visual memory. Over the years I have worked in several art mediums - graphite, color pencil, watercolor, oils, acrylics, mixed media, alcohol ink, paper arts, jewelry crafting - in short, I love to play. my main passion is working with watercolor. I have found it to be the most challenging and ever-changing type of paint to work with. The way that the colors move and blend are seductive but often difficult to control. It is almost impossible to get the exact same result if you try to recreate a painting that you particularly liked and were happy with. In recent years, I have enjoyed creating watercolor paintings using a batik method of using melted wax as a resist. I have been blessed to have been given the opportunity to let creativity give me peace and contentment.
