About

My mother, noticing my artistic talent, sent me to formal art lessons when I was just 9 years old. My art teacher introduced me to chalk pastels, watercolors, and oil paints. I continued to create art through my high school and college years, but after my baby was born, I became too busy to draw and paint. My mother kept after me and finally I began to create fine artworks in 2015 and haven't been able to stop since then. My artistic style back as a youngster and teenager was very realistic as that was what I was instructed in. Nowadays, I prefer a more abstract approach using lots of color and details. I create lots of nature (butterflies, hummingbirds, and horses) because these subjects tend to speak to many of my patrons. I love to paint and I guess I could say that I also paint to live! I see ideas and challenges all around me and strive to recreate them my way. I recently relocated to Phoenix from California and am immersing myself in the art community here.

Artist Statement

With over 40 years of experience exhibiting and teaching art in California, I bring a lifelong commitment to creativity and artistic growth. Now newly based in Phoenix, I’m excited to become part of the vibrant local arts community and share my work with a new audience. My current practice focuses on watercolors, acrylics, and mixed media incorporating beadwork. Though I began with a realistic style in my youth, my work has evolved into a more abstract and expressive approach—layered with color, texture, and emotion. Painting is both a passion and a necessity for me; it’s how I process the world around me. Whether through bold abstraction or intricate detail, I strive to reflect the beauty, complexity, and energy I see in life. Just as I continue to grow as an artist, I remain equally passionate about sharing knowledge and encouraging creativity in others.
